RetreatFIT is an independent editorial guide to adult fitness retreats, weight-loss retreats, wellness retreats, residential fitness programs, and active wellness travel.
Our goal is simple: make it easier to understand what these programs are actually like before you spend thousands of dollars and several days or weeks of your life attending one.
The retreat market covers a wide range of experiences. Some programs are highly structured, with scheduled workouts, planned meals, coaching, and group activities. Others operate more like destination wellness resorts, where fitness, hiking, spa services, and educational sessions are available but largely optional.
RetreatFIT focuses on the differences that matter when choosing between them.

What We Cover
Our guides and reviews may examine factors such as:
- Program structure
- Fitness intensity
- Meals and nutrition
- Coaching and staff support
- Accommodations
- Group size and social environment
- Length of stay
- Pricing and included services
- Location
- Beginner suitability
- Recreation and downtime
- Medical or clinical services, when applicable
- Cancellation and booking policies
- Who a program may be best suited for
We also publish practical planning guides covering subjects such as retreat costs, typical schedules, packing, trip length, physical expectations, and questions to ask before booking.
How We Evaluate Retreats
RetreatFIT compares retreats using publicly available information, direct information provided by retreat operators, and other sources we consider useful and credible.
We try to distinguish clearly between facts, published policies, marketing claims, and our own editorial interpretation.
Programs can vary significantly even when they use the same labels. A “fitness retreat,” “weight-loss retreat,” “wellness retreat,” or “adult fitness camp” may describe very different levels of structure, intensity, privacy, medical involvement, and personal choice.
For that reason, we focus less on labels and more on how the actual program works.
Independent, but Commercially Supported
RetreatFIT is independently operated and is not owned by the retreats we cover.
Some retreat operators may compensate RetreatFIT for referrals, advertising, sponsored placement, or other commercial relationships.
When compensation is involved, we aim to disclose it clearly.
Commercial relationships may influence which programs receive additional visibility, but they do not change our responsibility to describe programs accurately or to identify meaningful differences between them.
Sponsored placements and paid relationships should not be interpreted as guarantees that a program is appropriate for every reader.
Our Approach
We believe a useful retreat guide should answer practical questions instead of relying on vague wellness language or dramatic promises.
Before booking a retreat, you should be able to understand:
- What a normal day looks like
- How much activity is expected
- What is included in the price
- How meals are handled
- How much downtime you will have
- What the accommodations are like
- Whether the program works with different fitness levels
- What kind of support is available
- What happens if the program is not a good fit
The best retreat is not necessarily the most expensive, most intensive, most luxurious, or most famous.
It is the one whose structure, environment, and expectations match what you actually want from the experience.
